Little Heroes, Big Planet: How We Help the Earth

Our Earth Day Celebration on 21 April 2026 reflected NurtureStars’ commitment to cultivating young environmental stewards through meaningful, hands-on learning experiences.

The children began the day with a thoughtfully curated storybook session designed to spark awareness about the importance of caring for and protecting our Earth. This was followed by an “Earth Hour” experience, where they actively practiced switching off lights to understand how small actions can contribute to energy conservation.

To deepen their understanding of sustainability, the children engaged in recycling activities using a newly introduced government recycling machine at One Punggol. Here, they learnt to sort materials such as tin cans and plastic containers, reinforcing practical habits of environmental responsibility.

Their learning was further extended through guided observations of electric and petrol vehicles, where they explored the differences and discussed eco-friendly commuting choices such as walking, cycling, and car-sharing. This encouraged them to think critically about greener alternatives in daily life.

Hands-on planting activities provided meaningful opportunities for PN1 and PN2 children to bond with their families, while older children collaborated with peers to plant seeds, nurturing a sense of responsibility and care for living things.

The celebration concluded with a litter-picking activity along Punggol Waterway, allowing children to experience firsthand the importance of keeping shared spaces clean and well-maintained.

Overall, the Earth Day Celebration was a purposeful and enriching experience that strengthened children’s awareness of sustainability and reinforced NurtureStars’ belief in shaping environmentally responsible habits through everyday actions.
