Instead of going to their preschools on 19 July 2019 to teach, some 100 teachers from six NurtureStars centres went “back to school” themselves to update their knowledge and deepen their skills to further improve the quality of learning delivery for their children.

All the centres were closed on that day for the principals, teachers and staff to attend a programme of presentations and workshops at the annual Professional Development Day organised by the Crestar Education Group. They joined 600 others from three other preschools and an international school for a day-long training exercise held at four different locations.

Anchored on the theme “Sustainable Learning for the Early Years” the learning programme included evergreen foundational topics designed to help them sustain the highest possible level of delivery in the classroom, as well interesting and creative ways to foster bilingual learning. There were also learning programmes for customer service and kitchen staff.

The workshops, delivered by professional lecturers from KLC International Institute, were “Creating a Self-directed Learning Environment”, “Empowering Preschool Educators with Effective Communication Skills”, and “Integrating Stories & Music for Preschoolers”.  Chinese language teachers had the opportunity to update themselves in the workshop on “Exploring Creativity in Natural Science through Chinese Language”.
