NurtureStars’ in-house food, nutrition and hygiene specialist have recommended several simple yet hearty recipes which you and your child can follow at home. Let this be an opportunity for your child to take charge and hone their independence in the process!
(A) Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie
Ingredients: 7 Strawberries, 1 Kiwi, Unsweetened plain yogurt, Fresh mint leaves
Instructions: Wash fruits and mint leaves. Cut off the stems of strawberries. Peel the kiwi. Blend all ingredients in a blender with some drinking water until smooth. Serves two.
Benefits: Packed with powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agent. Excellent source of Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Improves digestion.
** Take note of total fruits intake per day to better control sugar intake. It is better to eat whole fruit than blended juices or smoothies. Consume blended juices or smoothies moderately.
(B) Orange Smoothie
Ingredients: 2 Oranges, 1 Carrot, Fresh minced ginger
Instructions: Wash ingredients. Peel off the skin of oranges and carrot. Cut smaller to fit into blender. Blend all ingredients in a blender with some drinking water until smooth. Serves two.
Benefits: Excellent source of Vitamin C and Vitamin A (beta-carotene). Rich in anti-inflammatory properties and aids digestion.

(C) Avocado Toast
Ingredients: Whole meal toast, Avocado, Egg, Fresh baby spinach
Instructions:
- Cook fresh baby spinach over medium heat in a frying pan. Set aside.
- Crack an egg into the same frying pan and cook over medium heat until fully cooked. Set aside.
- Mash the avocado with a fork and spread evenly on a piece of whole meal toast.
- Top the avocado toast with spinach and egg.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serves one.
