NurtureStars at SAFRA Yishun has been awarded the Innovation Grant by ECDA in May this year. The innovation grant was used to build a Green House, whereby our children have the opportunity to watch how plants can grow using a controlled environment system like hydroponics.

Children were introduced to the benefits and knowledge of hydroponics. Visiting the farm three times a week, they learn to monitor the PH level and ensure it remains constant between 100-120 during the growth of the plant.

This project have helped to enhance children’s sense of awareness of hydroponics where in-ground agriculture or gardening are not possible. The children also had the opportunity to eat the vegetables after it was harvested.
