This SAF Day, our Mount Faber centre brought families together for a heartfelt celebration! Our preschools have been observing Singapore Armed Forces Day since 2010, maintaining this tradition as a cornerstone of our annual activities. This celebration serves multiple purposes that benefit both our children and the wider community.

First, it creates a meaningful connection between children and their NSmen fathers. Most of our students have fathers who are Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen) and SAFRA members. When these fathers leave home for their annual In-Camp Training, young children often struggle to understand their absence. Through our SAF Day activities, we help children grasp why their fathers temporarily leave—because they love their families and want to protect them.

Moreover, these celebrations offer a perfect opportunity to instill important values. Through the joint initiative by SAFRA and the Association of Early Childhood and Training Services (ASSETS), children learn to appreciate the crucial role national servicemen play in Singapore’s defense and security. The celebration aims to nurture values reminiscent of those emphasized in military training—perseverance, discipline, and teamwork.

Lastly, special thanks to our veteran guest, COL (NS) Darren Tan, thank you for your service and for inspiring our next generation. Our little stars took the stage with proud performances with fun activities kept everyone engaged. And of course, we shared some great food and laughter together!

A big thank you to the SAF for their unwavering dedication in protecting our nation and keeping Singapore safe.
