Saying goodbye to the Ox, we enter the Year of the Tiger on February 1, 2022.

Our little Stars celebrated the festivities through fun, educational activities. We organised hands on Chinese New Year celebration in school where our children learnt to make Chinese dumplings and using recycled materials to make lanterns and some make pineapple tarts as part of the event.

We also had children to sing song and doing dance performance in our centre. We also organized some simple games to engage our children as part of the celebration. To help our non-Chinese friends better understand how we celebrate CNY, our teachers and children shared about the traditions and customs that we typically practice. We also have fun with a “Lo Hei” session.

Everyone gathered together and as we place the ingredients into the platter, we had the children to take turns to verbalize the auspicious sayings. This is also the time for all of us to toss the raw fish salad before having a mouthful each.

Lastly, as part of the traditional which signifies wishing prosperity upon the recipient, we invited our children to bring mandarin oranges to exchange with their teachers and friends.

Using fingerprints to create an artwork for the class decorations.

Exchanging mandarin oranges with families and friends has always been a form of respect and tradition.
