NurtureStars held a joyful celebration for Singapore’s 59th National Day on August 8, 2024. This year’s theme, “Together, As One United People,” highlighted the unity and resilience of the nation.

Children arrived at school dressed in red and white, reflecting the colours of Singapore’s Flag. Their excitement was palpable as they eagerly anticipated the day’s festivities.

The celebration kicked off with teachers sharing stories about Singapore’s journey to independence and its success in nation-building. They explained the significance of this year’s theme, as well as the symbolism of the crescent moon and five stars on the National Flag.

Throughout the day, children participated in a series of engaging, fun-filled activities. They enjoyed relay games like spinning hula hoops and took turns crafting the Singapore Flags. The younger PN1 children had fun creating flags using ice cream sticks, which they painted to resemble the National Flag.

In addition, the children were excited to receive temporary tattoos, with educators helping them apply flags and other patriotic symbols to their hands and faces.

The celebration concluded with the children singing the National Anthem, followed by dancing to patriotic songs such as “Not Alone.” The day was filled with pride, unity, and a deep appreciation for Singapore’s journey, making the celebration a memorable experience for all involved.
