Hari Raya, also known as Eid al-Fitr, is a significant celebration for Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting, reflection, and prayer.
Our children gathered to learn about the significance of Hari Raya and why it is celebrated. They discovered that Hari Raya Puasa, also known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, marks the end of Ramadan—the fasting month observed by the Malay Muslim community. Through the class sharing session, our children learned that it is a time for forgiveness, togetherness, and joyful celebrations with loved ones.
The children were also introduced to traditional Malay costumes such as the baju kurung and kebaya, as well as various traditional Malay foods typically enjoyed during the festive season.
Rounding up the event, our children participated in festive games in the centres too. Some of the activities included a ketupat toss, a memory game, and a Malay costume dress-up corner. To conclude the celebration, all children brought and shared snacks with their peers, fostering a sense of community and joy.
